Dr Sarthak Wadhera PGI 2018 Rank 1 & Marrow Pro User shares his preparation journey
Congrats Dr Sarthak on PGI Rank 1! Tell us a little about yourself!
Thank you. I am from Rohtak, Haryana and will finish my internship at PGIMS, Rohtak this December.
When did you start preparing for the exam?
Seriously in January 2018, but I knew early on in 3rd year itself that I have to appear for the entrance exams and started organising my mind accordingly.
When did you start using Marrow?
I started using Marrow in April 2018. Initially, I took a Pro Plan A and then upgraded to Plan B. I found it very very good. I solved modules on a daily basis and have completed more than 95% of the Qbank modules.
How did you incorporate Marrow QBank in your preparation?
I read my class notes and followed it up with the Qbank modules. I always made it a point to add the new points from the explanations to my notes and read it 2-3 times. This is important to do, otherwise it does not get retained.
When do you recommend your juniors to start preparing with Marrow?
Final Year itself. Solve MCQs every day after reading your notes and keep adding new points.
What did you love the most about Marrow?
Dr Rohan Khandelwal’s Surgery videos. I could not attend all the classes because of my internship, but I watched the Friday Free videos and all of Dr Rohan’s videos because he is my favourite faculty.
How did you revise?
So I had bookmarked around 4800 MCQs and in my free time, and I just revised using the Bookmark revision option sometimes in a test form or randomly. Custom Module is quite beneficial for revision, though I could not use it enough.
Did Marrow Pearls help? If it did, how did you include them in your preparation?
I used Pearls quite frequently for revision. I always applied the subject-wise filter while reading Pearls.
What was your rank in AIIMS?
My AIIMS PG Nov 2018 rank is 87. In Marrow AIIMS Mock, I had got a rank of 31
Have you used any guides for preparation?
Absolutely no guides. I was solely dependent on my notes and Marrow QBank
How often would you recommend your juniors to take Marrow Mock Tests?
I gave almost all Marrow mock tests on time. I recommend taking them twice a month, especially the AII India Mocks. For tough tests, I read all the explanations while for the easy ones I read only the ones I got wrong.
What was your strategy in the last few days?
I mostly revised my notes and solved selected QBank modules for practice.
How many options did you attempt in PGI?
Out of 1250 options I marked 620.
How many cycles of revisions do you recommend?
For Central exams, I suggest 2 cycles. For NEET PG you should do at least 3 cycles.
Thank you for this exclusive interview with Marrow, Dr. Sarthak. We are glad to be part of your journey. All the Best for JIPMER!
Heartiest congratulations Sarthak. Proud of you.
