1. Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune: Established in 1948, AFMC is the first medical college set up by the Armed Forces of any Asian country. Affiliated to the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences and recognized by the MCI, this college combines medical education with training specific to the healthcare needs of the Armed Forces. It is the only college responsible for providing medical specialists to the Armed Forces.
Total MD/MS seats: 166*
Courses: It offers MD/MS courses in 22 subjects, along with a Masters in Anatomy and Hospitalisation.
Admission Procedure: The merit list of candidates is based on the NEET PG score and a medical fitness test conducted by the Directorate General of Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS). The seats are allotted between different categories, and Medical Officers currently serving in the AFMS get top priority. Civilian doctors are considered if they consent to serve the AFMS for a period of five years after finishing the course.
2. Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore: One of the oldest medical institutions in India, CMC was founded in 1900 by Dr. Ida Sophia Scudder. Over time, it has become one of the top-ranked educational, healthcare and research institutes in the country. It is affiliated with the Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University and has two campuses – the main campus in the heart of Vellore and the other campus at Bagayam, about 7 km away.
Total MD/MS seats: Nearly 180*
Courses: It offers MD/MS courses in more than 25 subjects. However, these subjects are subjected to change as per University/MCI regulations.
Admission Procedure: CMC fills its seats on the basis of NEET PG score and sponsorship by the churches and organisations of its council through Tamil Nadu Management Quota Counselling. Seats are also allotted for minority candidates who have worked in PHCs. Few seats are also assigned through open and service quota.
3. Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi: Established in 1960, IMS-BHU has 33 Modern Medicine Departments including 10 Super-Specialities Departments and four Dentistry Departments. A residential college, it is affiliated to Banaras Hindu University and is a part of the main University Campus in Varanasi.
Total MD/MS seats: 168 + 5 (Foreign Nationals)*
Courses: IMS – BHU offers M.D./M.S in 24 subjects, which include almost all the major specialities.
Admission Procedure: The merit list of candidates is based on the NEET PG score. 50% of the seats are allocated on the basis of All India Counselling and are open to all candidates from India. The remaining 50% of the seats are assigned on the basis of State Counselling.
4. Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore: Popularly known as KMC Manipal, this college was founded in 1955. It currently offers various postgraduate medical and super-speciality courses in various disciplines. It is affiliated to Manipal University.
Total MD/MS seats: 178+*
Courses: KMC offers MD/MS courses in around 20 subjects, and PG Diploma and MSc in several clinical subjects.
Admission Procedure: The merit list of candidates is based on the NEET PG score. The seats are allocated on the basis of All India Counselling, State Counselling and Management Quota.

5. King George’s Medical University, Lucknow: Established in 1912, King George’s Medical University is affiliated with the University of Lucknow. The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) has ranked it 10th among medical colleges in India in 2019.
Total MD/MS seats: Nearly 200*
Courses: KGMU offers specialisation in more than 20 subjects.
Admission Procedure: Admission is based on the NEET PG score. The seats are divided equally between All India Counselling and State Counselling.
6. Lady Hardinge Medical College for Women, New Delhi: The first medical college for women in India, The Lady Hardinge Medical College for Women was established in 1916. It is affiliated to Delhi University and administered by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
Total MD/MS seats: 142*
Courses: LMHC offers MD/MS in 20 subjects. Apart from that LHMC offers two super speciality courses(MCh Peds. Surgery and DM Neonatology).
Admission Procedure: Seats are allocated on the basis of the NEET-PG score, with half the seats for All India Counselling and the remaining half for State Counselling.
7. Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College, Sion, Mumbai: Associated with Sion Hospital, Lokmanya Tilak Medical College was established in 1964 in Sion, Mumbai. It is affiliated to Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), Nashik.
Total MD/MS seats: Nearly 150*
Courses: The college offers MD/MS courses in almost all the subjects. It also offers PG Diploma and Post-Doctoral degrees in M.Ch and DM in different specializations.
Admission Procedure: Admission is based on the NEET PG score. 50% of the seats are allocated on the basis of All India Counselling and are open to all candidates from India. The remaining 50% of the seats are assigned on the basis of State Counselling.
8. Madras Medical College, Chennai: The third oldest medical college in India, Madras Medical College was established in 1835. The college is affiliated to Tamil Nadu Dr M.G.R. Medical University and is one of the foremost centres of post-graduate medical education in the country.
Total MD/MS seats: 433*
Courses: MMC offers MD/MS in 23 subjects along with 16 super speciality courses. The college also offers a postgraduate diploma.
Admission Procedure: Admission to MMC depends on the NEET PG score, with 50% of the seats going to All India Counselling candidates, and 50% to State Counselling candidates.
9. Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC), New Delhi: Founded in 1958, MAMC is affiliated to the University of Delhi. It has teaching programs for graduate and postgraduate degrees, residency and super specialities.
Total MD/MS seats: 153*
Courses: MAMC offers specialization in nearly 20 subjects.

10. Seth GS Medical College & King Edward Memorial Hospital, Mumbai: Founded in 1926, the GSM college is affiliated to Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), Nashik and funded by Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai. The medical college has undergraduate, postgraduate and super speciality medical courses.
Total MD/MS seats: 233*
Courses: Seth GS college offers MD/MS in 20 subjects and super speciality courses in 15 subjects. The college also provides a PG diploma in several clinical subjects.

11. Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education & Research, Chennai: Established in Porur, Chennai in 1985 as a private self-financing institution, SRIHER was recognised as a deemed university in 1994. It is ranked 11th among medical colleges in India, according to the National Institutional Ranking Framework, 2019.
Total seats MD/MS: Nearly 190
Courses: It offers MD/MS in more than 20 specialisations and DM/MCh Programs in more than 15 specialisations.

12. St John’s National Academy of Health Sciences, Bangalore: Established in Bengaluru by The Catholic Bishops Conference of India as St John’s Medical College in 1963, the institution was renamed as St. John’s National Academy of Health Sciences in 1994. It comprises of several wings, including a college of nursing and research institute, and is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences.
Total MD/MS seats: 99*
Courses: It offers a PG degree in 23 subjects, and has super speciality courses in several subjects.
Admission procedure: Students aspiring to apply for PG admissions to St. John’s Medical College are required to register for the centralised counselling which happens with Karnataka Examination Authority, based on their NEET-PG Ranks.
13. University College of Medical Sciences (UCMS) & GTB Hospital, New Delhi: Affiliated to Delhi University, the University College of Medical Sciences was founded in 1971 by the then Health Minister to provide medical education to every qualified student. It is associated with Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital.
Total MD/MS seats: 163*
Courses: The college offers MD/MS in more than 20 subjects.

14. Vardhman Mahavir Medical College & Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi: Established in Safdarjung Hospital in 2001, VMNC has established itself as a prominent medical college in the country. It is affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi.

Courses: It offers 20 MD/MS courses, PG Diploma and DM/MCh courses.
